First Foundations, Inc. (FFI) was honored as “Business of the Month” at the July meeting of the Travelers Rest Area Business Association.

TRABA president Cindy Kavanagh asked FFI president Dick Jensen to give luncheon guests a report on his organization’s July 4th event in Travelers Rest. Jensen said 22 business, government and education leaders from northern Greenville County took turns reading the entire text of the Declaration of Independence during the Sunday afternoon “Liberty Celebration.” A patriotic parade preceded the public reading of the Declaration. A color guard from the Sons of the American Revolution led the mini-parade from Gateway Elementary School to the Kevin Whitaker building, site of the three o’clock ceremony.

Jensen reported that the nonpartisan event was FFI’s contribution to “liberty literacy.” Copies a pocket edition of the Declaration of Independence were given to more than 150 people in attendance.

First Foundations, Inc. is a nonprofit research and publication organization, located at 20 South Poinsett Street in Travelers Rest since 1998. The organization’s website is www.firstfound.us.
